About the Festival
Goals
- To work with and inspire the local community, helping to create an annual 9 day Festival that celebrates our people, our history and the place where we live. A festival that reaches everyone within the community and promotes the riches of our people and place to those who live elsewhere. A festival that our community owns and is proud of.
- Create events that bring the whole of the community, sections of the community and families together.
How we achieve our goals...
- Develop a programme, along with local organisations, groups and individuals. Create a broad range of events, some of which are targeted at specific groups, with the intention of connecting with everyone in our community. The programme is building each year, with the 2 weekends that bookend the 9 day festival focusing on events that bring Wellingtonians out to the Bay, and the 5 week days in between focusing on events that help us to get to know ourselves.
- Engage a Festival Director/Coordinator for a nominal fee, to raise funds and manage the week to week requirements of the Festival.
- Produce a specific range of events.
- Inspire and assist local organisations and individuals to create their own events, giving financial assistance if required. (dependent on the success of fundraising)
- Seek volunteers to coordinate and assist with events.
- Maintain a Festival web site that gives up to date information about the programme and detailed information about each event.
- Publicise the Festival.
